What is Recon?
A reconaissance unit in any army is usually the spearhead of any fighting force. Its intention is sometimes to force or cajole the enemy out to fight. Its also lightly armoured, speed being its best asset, so main battle tanks will not feature as much as other mods. The location: Helmand Province, present day. There are very little buildings and structures in the basic BF2 game to allow that location so i’ve gone off and built a load of walls, small huts, and large internal 2 and 3 storey buildings, with roof top access as standard. The idea is to have the fighting on some maps take place around an Afghan Compound type building. I suggest you google image search it to see what i mean. The fighting will take place in compound to compound fighting, with destroyable wall sections, doors and window shutters throughout, and who knows, if you destroy one, you might just find a bot with a mounted machine gun in there looking back at you. There will be also mountain regions, wadi type fighting, and small town fighting. The artillery as a commander asset will not be used by either side, but each map will have its own local artillery for use by whoever has control of the flags.

Now, you all know I come from the BOMSF school of modding, but this will not be m60 sniper rifle stuff, each weapon will have recoil, tracer and climb, along with bullet drop, but if you aim at the guy and get shots on target, he will drop. I’ve already put this successfully on the support and sniper weapon and it makes it tough to score a kill from a camping ground on a hill. As far as weapon loadout is concerned, many of my previous weapons will be retired, the m60 being one. Weapons will take on a more COD4/Crysis customizable style. For instance, the Assault Class will have the SIG 552, with muzzle brake/silencer in slot 2 – Reduced kill power, in slot 3 he will have the standard SIG 552, and Slot 4 he will have a scoped version for some long range single shot bot zapping. Yes, there will be also some fun weapons in the game, but these will be useful nonetheless.
